Happy Birthday, Rick Gonzalez!

Rick Gonzalez, the actor behind Ben on Reaper, turns 29 today. Happy birthday, Rick!

We love Ben – he’s the sweet-natured voice of reason (relatively speaking) in a pretty over-the-top group, but he still knows how to have fun. Both Rick and Ben have bonded with our own Jason C. – check out this interview, along with Ben trying to give Jason some soul-fighting techniques!

Poor Ben has been through a lot this past year – he’s discovered one of his best friends in a bounty hunter for the Devil, and he’s risen to the challenge of hunting down escaped souls. That’s led to some perils for poor Ben – he’s been shot with nails, dragged halfway through a wall, and spotted dressed like a giant condom. Of course, there are perks, like finally getting the pet he always wanted (although the white dove turns into a flock of demonic black birds that consumes a soul, freaking Ben out), and finally gaining his grandmother’s approval.

Ben hasn’t had it any easier when he’s not on soul patrol – just think about Ben’s ill-fated Green Card marriage to Sarah, who didn’t approve when Ben found the girl of his dreams (complete with delicate wrists, an appreciation for Extreme Fighting, and a love for the works of Sue Grafton). Sarah ended up stealing the money Ben scraped together to bribe the INS, and Ben went to jail. But we’re sure those eight days in the pokey made him a better man!

Rick shares an easygoing personality and ladykiller looks with Ben, but he’s much more ambitious than the Work Bench slacker. Rick started acting professionally right after graduating from New York’s High School for Performing Arts, snagging plum roles in movies like The Rookie, Coach Carter, In The Valley of Elah and The Promotion. He’s also a member of the hip-hop trio U-KRIME, performing as RealmReality.

We hope Rick has a great time on his birthday. Leave your birthday wishes for Rick in the comments!

Fighting Words: Leyton's The Ultimate OTH Couple vs. Leyton Needs to Give It Up

Lucas and PeytonIt's Monday, and you know what means -- we're back in the ring for another round of Fighting Words (check out last week's Fighting Words for the scoop on our latest feature)! This week, we take on Lucas and Peyton's relationship on One Tree Hill. Here's the fight:

Lucas and Peyton are the be-all, end-all couple of One Tree Hill. They were set up like that from the beginning, and they have to find their way to each other eventually.

vs.

Lucas and Peyton need to give it up already. Their storylines are so tired, and just because they started out with a connection five seasons ago doesn't mean they should still be together.

And we're off! Post your comments and let us know your take on Leyton! Remember to keep it civil and respect everyone's opinions.

Jackie: Now that we’re going back and watching season one, I can see how the writers originally set up Lucas and Peyton as the be-all, end-all couple of this show. Brooke seems to have been introduced as an afterthought – Peyton’s sassy sidekick, the good-time gal who’s all about fun, while Lucas and Peyton have this amazing CONNECTION that we’re constantly reminded of. But all that changes in later seasons when Lucas and Brooke’s chemistry takes their relationship to a new level and Peyton finds romance with Jake. We see that Lucas and Peyton can, in my opinion, be even better with other people than they were together.

Now, many seasons later, we’re STILL muddling through the will-they-or-won’t-they Lucas/Peyton angst, and frankly, I’m tired of it. If they were meant to make it work, they would have made it work already! They had their shot as a couple several times, and it never lasted. Lucas was ready to MARRY someone else this season -- it’s time for Peyton to find someone else, too. These two only seem to bring each other (and everyone around them) pain and grief. I think they need to move on.

Mia: Honestly, I haven’t seen enough of the series to have a well-informed opinion. What I can say is that after watching seasons one and five, it is obvious that Lucas and Peyton both have problems figuring out what they want. Lucas seems to always want to be the person pined after -- even if he’s in another relationship. He may not want to be with Peyton but he doesn’t want her to lose her feelings for him. Not cool. Peyton has trouble figuring out her true feelings as well. At one point in season five she says she’s not sure if it’s just the idea of Lucas that she’s in love with or Lucas himself. Truth be told, I think both of them just love playing the hurting game and it makes their relationship more exciting. If they were to actually “be” together, they probably wouldn’t know what to do with themselves.

Sarah: OK, I'm going to play devil's advocate here, since we're all too agree-y at the moment. So, in defense of Leyton: Mark Schwahn set these two sensitive teens up as soulmates from the first moment we saw them. They've both been bruised and battered by life, set apart and misunderstood by their friends and families. They may be surrounded by people who love them, but they're the only people who really GET each other. They can try to fight it all they want, but Lucas and Peyton won't ever be happy until they've given in to fate and gone into a real relationship with each other. That's the only way they'll ever be able to get past wondering what might have been. And if the relationship doesn't work out, it will be devastating, but at least they'll know and will be able to move on with their lives.

Happy Birthday to Tichina Arnold!

Happy birthday, Tichina! One of our favorite TV moms turns 37 today -- Tichina Arnold, who plays the no-nonsense, not-to-be-messed-with Rochelle on Everybody Hates Chris. Happy birthday, Tichina!

Tichina was born in Jamaica, Queens -- not too far Rochelle's TV home in Bed-Stuy - and got into acting at a young age. She hit the big screen in 1986 as Crystal, one of the girl-group narrators in Little Shop of Horrors. Not bad for a 16-year-old! After that, she landed a role-and an Emmy nomination - on the soap Ryan's Hope. Her next big gig was a recurring role on the sitcom Martin. And through it all, she kept up a stage career, too. We're amazed she even had time to take on Everybody Hates Chris, but we're glad she did -- we can't imagine anyone else brining that combination of heart and spice to the role of Rochelle. Critics agree -- she's made a bunch of best lists, and has won an NAACP Image Award for the role.

That's not all - Tichina has starred in movies (many critics say she was the only redeeming feature in 2007 flick Wild Hogs); started up a line of custom-designed, crystal-studded bandanas and clothing; and sung the national Anthem at celebrity sporting events. Whew!

We hope Tichina has a great time on her birthday -- and that no one gives her a cheap knock-off perfume that makes her break out in hives, like Chris gave to Rochelle on Mother's Day!

Leave your birthday wishes for Tichina in the comments!

Happy Birthday, Ed Westwick!

We've made no secret of our love for Chuck Bass/Ed Westwick on this blog, so we're thrilled to wish him a very happy 21st birthday today! Recent pics taken in the Hamptons like this one make it look like Ed's having a good time:

Over the past year, Ed's made us major Chuck fans. Can you imagine anyone else playing Chuck? We adore his smarmy-but-sexy ways, his rule-breaking fashion sense, and his one-liners ("I'm Chuck Bass"). He started out as a witness to the Blair/Serena/Nate triangle... until he fell for Blair, and we saw his vulnerable side thanks to Ed's talented acting.

Chuck might not always have a great relationship with his dad, but in real life, Ed's a family guy -- check out People's adorable shot of him with his parents. He's got a lot going on these days -- gigs with his band, The Filthy Youth, shoots in the Hamptons, and hanging out with pal, castmate, and roommate Chace Crawford in NYC.

Turning 21 is probably somewhat anticlimactic for Ed, since the drinking age in the UK is much younger, but he still has plenty of reasons to have a drink. We hope he has a great birthday celebration tonight with friends and family -- maybe he'll celebrate with his Gossip Girl castmates!

Post your birthday wishes for Ed here, and if you want more, read our exclusive Q & A with Ed!

You have until Thursday, July 3 at 11:59 PM CT to vote. We'll announce the winner next Tuesday.

Best First Kiss wasn't even close. Dan and Serena of Gossip Girl left the competition in their dust with their intense first liplock. The fact that these two are dating in real life makes it even sweeter. Congratulations to Gossip Girl for its first Sourcies win!

Today's category is Best Reality Show Fight -- and there are some down-and-dirty battles to choose from. From expletive-hurling ANTM's Lauren to Cowboy Joe the surprise spitter, the CW's reality shows never lack for feisty characters. Watch the nominees with Jason C., then cast your vote in the poll below! You have one week to vote, so be sure to check back here next week for the winner -- and before that, we'll be back with another new Sourcies category next Tuesday!

Supernatural Podcast: "Phantom Traveler"

Listen Now

Poor Mia! She's already afraid of flying, and now we've subjected her to the airborne exorcism of "Phantom Traveler."

Dean, demon-hunting at 40,000 feet

We like seeing the brothers' dynamic change this week -- we saw Dean's vulnerable side and watched Sam take control and calm him down. But there's so much more to discuss: the many types of demons (Mia and I are still learning), the trials and tribulations of getting holy water in your carry-on, and our take on the guys sporting suits for the first time. Plus, we're wondering what the elusive John Winchester is up to...

Listen to our Supernatural podcast for "Phantom Traveler" and let us know what you think in the comments!

One Tree Hill Podcast: "The First Cut Is The Deepest"

Listen Now

Lucas refusing to do what's best for his health... again? Sheryl Crow reducing Haley to a blubbering fangirl? Keith making his dumbest move yet? An eyeliner addict seducing Lucas on a carousel? Aforementioned eyeliner addict turning out to be Jake's ex?

Lucas and Dan face off

They seem like events we dreamt up, but all of these things happened in "The First Cut Is The Deepest," a rage-inspiring episode for some of us (Sarah), and a controversial one for everyone. We think Brooke has every right to be angry right now (and she's got the best look of contempt we've ever seen), wish Nathan and Haley had way more screen time, and don't like where this Nikki plot is going... not one bit. Listen to our One Tree Hill podcast for "The First Cut Is The Deepest!"

One Tree Hill's Lindsey Going to SVU; What Will Lucas Do?

Michaela as Lindsey on OTHOne Tree Hill's season finale left us wondering who Lucas called, and some of us at CW Source Central were convinced it was Lindsey (he still seemed to be in love with her; she broke his heart, etc.). But TVGuide's latest casting scoop makes it look like Lucas and Lindsey don't have much of a future together -- that's because Michaela McManus, who played Lindsey on Season Five, is heading to Law and Order: Special Victims Unit as the assistant district attorney! We're happy for Michaela, but we wonder where this leaves OTH. Will we see Lindsey again in Tree Hill? Will Lucas be even more brokenhearted than he was for most of Season Five? And are you happy about this development, or will you miss Lindsey?

Supernatural News: Kripke Makes a Deal, Katie Cassidy Out, Jared Loses His Undies

Jared in Sydney -- more pics after the jump!A lot has been happening on the Supernatural front. First up, Variety reports that Supernatural’s Fearless Leader/Malevolent Genius Eric Kripke has signed a two-year deal with Warner Bros. TV. In addition to running Supernatural, Kripke will develop new projects for the company. Potential projects? Well, Kripke has said he wanted to do a sort of Supernatural prequel set in the Old West and exploring some of the show’s mythology (like the origin of the Colt, we assume?)

But that’s not all: TV Guide broke the news that Katie Cassidy is gone from the show. “She’s great, but this was unfortunately a financial decision — purely budgetary, because creatively she was terrific," Kripke said. "I have nothing but great affection for Katie, and she was great for the show. It was a very difficult business decision about the realities we are in."

We can’t say we’re totally surprised – after all, Katie had some serious detractors, and Ruby did seem pretty darn dead in the season finale (what with being possessed, then dispossessed by Lilith.) Still, it’s a bit of a shock, since Ruby seemed to be an important character. What do you think about the news?

A hilarious Jared story and great Jared pics from Sydney after the jump, so keep reading!

Plus, there’s this hilarious bit of news: Apparently, Jared’s bags got lost en route on his recent trip to Australia, and he had to buy some clean underwear before hitting the convention floor. That’s where things got difficult, according to The Herald Sun: "I had to go buy clean underwear with the crazy Australian sizes that I didn't understand. 16? 18? I have no idea what size I am - we do small, medium and large. They're far too small - they're like a thong. It's embarrassing.''

His discomfort didn’t show, as these pics prove. Rowr! We’re glad to know that Jared can work though even the pain of inappropriate undergarments!

The Sourcies: Best Slapstick

You have until Monday, July 1 at 11:59 PM CT to vote. We'll announce the winner next Tuesday.

Men in Suits was a hot category! It came down to the Scott brothers of OTH and the Winchester brothers of Supernatural, and the competition was neck-and-neck all week... but the Winchesters triumphed by a few hundred votes. Congratulations to Supernatural and the Winchesters for their Men in Suits victory!

Today's category is Best Slapstick. From flying objects to food face-plants, the CW shows offered up plenty of silliness this season in between all the dramatic moments. Watch the nominees with Jason C., then cast your vote in the poll below! You have one week to vote, so be sure to check back here next week for the winner -- and before that, we'll be back with another new Sourcies category on Friday!

MORE: There's still time to vote for Best First Kiss! You have until Thursday at 11:59 PM CT, so get voting!

Note to Supernatural fans: We picked this sequence and not Sam's scenes on Bad Day at Black Rock because we loved the way the two actors played off each other here. It's hilarious to watch Sam getting more and more frustrated with Dean dying and Dean having no idea of what's going on. It was a tough choice, but we had to pick one!

Introducing Fighting Words! Today: Tyra's Insane! vs. Tyra's in on The Joke

Tyra: insane or really, really smart? If a show is worth watching, it’s probably worth fighting about. We all have issues we’re passionate about on our favorite shows – but sometimes it feel like it’s dangerous to talk about them. If only there were a safe forum where we could share thoughts without mounting a scorched earth campaign.

That’s why we’re starting our new Fighting Words segment. Every Monday, we’ll post a new topic, and we’ll give you our perspective. Then, we want you to tell us what YOU think. Don’t hold back – give us your best argument on the topic of the week, and see if you can convince the rest of the readers!

There are some rules, of course. Our goal is to make this a friendly area to talk through the issues, not a place to mount TV-inspired holy wars. So we ask you do the following:
Keep it clean. No swearing, not personal attacks, no branding people who disagree with you poopy-butts or other such unpleasantness.

Stay on topic. If, for example, we’re debating whether Jason C. looks best in a suit or a t-shirt, it’s not the time to bring up arguments about his interview style or whether he loves Mia, Jackie or Sarah the most (we’ll get to that soon enough).

Try not to YELL, dismiss people out of hand, or use phrases like “A TRUE FAN should think this,” “Obviously that’s wrong,” or “You TOTALLY don’t know the show/have the inside scoop/read the mind of the show’s creator like I do.” This is about opinions, and there are no right or wrong answers, just more or less compelling arguments.

Beyond that, anything goes! Feel free to suggest topics you want to debate in the comments, or e-mail us with suggestions.

We're kicking things off with a Top Model debate. If you listen to the ANTM podcasts, you know Jackie and Mia get a little heated on the topic of Tyra. So here's this week's topic:

Tyra's insane and potentially an egomaniac. She bursts into song and dance, speaks in foreign accents, angles for Nigel's booty, contradicts herself at the judging table, wallpapers the ANTM house with her image, and offers little to no constructive criticism whatsoever.

vs.

Tyra's a shrewd businesswoman that's completely in on the joke, and she ACTS insane for ratings. She's playing a part, nothing more.

After the jump, Jackie, Mia and I share our thoughts. Post your own in the comments and let the great debate begin!

Jackie: Okay, I think (hope?) it’s the latter here, but lately Tyra has me wondering. Does she realize how she comes off? I liked her so much more in the early cycles of ANTM when she seemed down-to-earth, chill, and didn’t require a round of ear-splitting screams from the models every time she entered the room. She’d actually, you know, offer advice – one of the premises of Top Model was that contestants would get real tips from the former supermodel herself. Now the girls seem terrified of Tyra – after all, she might show up in a kangaroo suit, ask prying questions about their abusive exes (designed to elicit plenty of tears), or force them to model through faux menstrual cramps for a photo op.

Bottom line: I’m not sure how the new Tyra is an improvement over the old one, but I have to believe this is a conscious choice. She can’t be THAT crazy… right? Discuss!

Mia: I’ve seen Tyra act; she was on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air for a while and then got killed in the movie Higher Learning. She’s really not that great of an actress, nor do I think she has a sense of humor about herself. I think when she first started as a model/actress she was humble. She stayed on the straight and narrow, didn’t get into trouble or dabble with drugs and now I think she thinks she’s Oprah. I can understand maybe playing it a little crazy on America’s Next Top Model. Singing, dancing and imitating other languages doesn’t usually hurt anyone, but Tyra seems to make herself feel better by belittling the other contestants. For someone trying to teach these girls how to handle the media and stay true to themselves, she hasn’t set a great example.

Sarah: I wish I could give Tyra the benefit of the doubt, but I just can't -- the woman is batfeces crazy. She's turned ANTM into a cult-of-personality show, where the contestants have to worship at the altar of Tyra and follow every instruction without question. She seems to think people tune in to see her flail around rather than to see the competitors. Evidence: The CLEARLY rigged Saliesha win last cycle, the increasingly inexplicable eliminations of strong competitors like Claire, and her refusal to learn Katarzyna's name. Tyra can no longer see the real world around her insanely bloated ego. Someone needs to give her a reality check -- or at least make sure she takes her meds.

The Sarah and Jackie Files: Chuck Bass's Short Shorts

Over at Catwalk Queen, they're wondering if Chuck Bass is the new Carrie Bradshaw (!) We're not sure we'd go that far, but we have to acknowledge that Ed-as-Chuck has been pushing the envelope with his on-set styles lately, and he and Carrie do love those argyle socks. Below, Sarah and I talk about whether or not it works for us -- and wonder if even Chuck Bass can pull it all off.

Chuck Bass and Carrie Bradshaw: loving the argyle

Sarah: Isn't it awesome?
Jackie: He's been sporting short shorts for awhile now.
Sarah: I can just see Chuck in the male version of a tutu.
Jackie: The sick thing is, I'm finding him really cute in these pics, in spite of the outfits
Jackie: or at least the bottom half of the outfits
Sarah: Yeah, I know
Jackie: I like his new 'do
Sarah: The high socks with shorts is a deal-breaker for me
Jackie: You mean the bow tie isn't?
Sarah: See, I guess I've seen the bow tie enough that I'm immune to it
Sarah: It's Chuck, he wears bow ties
Sarah: but those shoes + those socks + those shorts = Gah!
Sarah: And if you're wearing shorts like that, it's too hot for a sweater, you know?
Jackie: Agreed. but then, he's Chuck Bass.
Sarah: Yeah
Jackie: He doesn't have to play by our (fashion) rules.
Jackie: he makes his own... to his own detriment, I'm afraid
Sarah: Except when it's not.
Sarah: Sometimes, he can totally rock the ascot or the blaze-orange trench coat, but sometimes, he goes too far
Jackie: I definitely think the wardrobe people are pushing the envelope more lately

Jackie: if you go back to the beginning of season one, he wasn't really that outlandish
Jackie: I could almost see someone wearing what he wore then
Jackie: but now? no way.
Jackie: Same with Blair.
Sarah: Yeah. But then, that adds to the idea that he's the new Carrie Bradshaw
Sarah: Blair? Really? I think she's gotten much better outfits as the show went on
Jackie: I disagree
Jackie: I LOVED her outfits in the first half of the season, pre-writer's strike
Jackie: Her black lace dress in the pilot
Jackie: Her outfit on the runway before she almost fled to France
Jackie: Her Thanksgiving outfit...
Jackie: But then they come back in January and she looks like Snow White on steroids
Jackie: in that blue mess
Sarah: Heh. I LOVED that blue coat!
Sarah: And what about her mega=slinky art-deco outfit when she outed Asher?
Jackie: Okay, I'll give you that -- that was stunning.
Jackie: But in general, the costumes have become more outlandish. I also hated Serena's yellow dress in the finale
Sarah: The bridesmaid dress?
Sarah: Because yeah, that was HIDEOUS
Sarah: I still think it was Lily exacting revenge on her child
Jackie: for?
Sarah: Life in general
Sarah: Being a difficult-to-deal-with kid
Jackie: Hmmm... I don't think anything Serena did was bad enough to merit that black ribbon!

What do you think? Is GG fashion heading in the right direction? Was Serena's dress really a not-so-subtle punishment for bad behavior? And which was your all-time favorite Chuck Bass ensemble? Discuss in the comments!

Gossip Girl: A Cougar Joins The Cast!

Mädchen AmickNate's going to have his hands full this fall on Gossip Girl now that he'll be involved with an older woman! EOnline.com reports that a cougar will be joining the cast -- and she's got her sights set on Nate. Mädchen Amick (Twin Peaks, ER, Viva Laughlin) will be around for several episodes this fall. And not only will she be a big part of Nate's storylines, but she'll also have a "surprising connection" to another new cast member. We'd like to wildly speculate, but since it's a NEW cast member, we have no idea (otherwise, we would've guessed she was an old love of Rufus's). EOnline's Kristin has more Nate/cougar scoop on her blog.

We're excited to see how this pairing develops. Can you imagine Nate with an older woman, and do you want to see him with one, or do you prefer Nate with one of the main characters? Vote in the poll and let us know in the comments!

Happy Birthday to Erica Durance!

Smallville hottie Erica Durance has a big birthday coming up – the actress, who plays Lois Lane, turns 30 on Saturday. Happy birthday, Erica!

Erica started out in a real-life Smallville – she grew up on a turkey farm in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. Since she’s said she has a phobia of birds, we can’t imagine that was a lot of fun for her! After school, she jumped to Vancouver to test out acting, and she’s never looked back. After a series of roles in some pretty cheese-tastic horror flicks (think “The Untold, aka Sasquatch,” “House of the Dead” and “Devil Winds”), Erica started landing guest roles on TV shows like “The Chris Isaak Show,” “Tru Calling,” “Andromeda” and “Stargate SG-1.” Then came the role of Lois Lane on Smallville, and the rest is history.

It’s a role that Erica relishes – she’s said that Lois Lane was her favorite comic-book character even before she’d landed the show – and she’s made a splash with it. Comic writer and former consulting producer Jeph Loeb lobbied for Erica to get the role, and the two remain good friends even though Jeph has left the series. In fact, Erica co-hosted a charity auction at Wizard World: Chicago to raise money for a scholarship set up to honor Jeph’s son Sam, who died of cancer at age 17. Erica donated the $15,000 fee she was offered to the charity and did the gig for free.

Of course, Erica does have some fans who are just as interested in her smokin’ bod as in her good heart and her acting talent. She was voted one of TV Guide’s “Most Physically Fit Stars on Television,” and has appeared on FHM’s list of “World’s 100 Sexiest Women” three times: She made her debut on the list in 2006 at number 38, then hit number 20 in 2007 and showed up at number 15 in 2008. She’s also been a Maxim cover girl, appeared in the 2007 Women of Sci-fi calendar, and was named by Netscape as one of the "Sexiest Sci-Fi Babes.” That fame has spread to other arenas – a poster of Erica can be seen in Superboy’s bedroom in the Supergirl comic. Sorry, guys – Erica has been happily married to actor David Palffy since 2005.

We hope Erica has a great time for her 30th birthday. Leave your birthday wishes for Erica in the comments!

Supernatural Podcast: "Dead in The Water"

There's an overwhelming sense of dread in this episode, and we ended up pretty freaked out by the end (it didn't help that the lights in the podcasting room flickered ominously while we were watching the scary bathtub scene).

The brothers

In our Supernatural podcast for "Dead in The Water," Sarah, Mia and I argue about the appropriate way to bathe, love how the brothers balance each other out ("Thanks, college boy!"), and wonder whether or not Wisconsin is inherently creepy. Wee also address the debate in last week's comments.

Listen to our podcast for "Dead in The Water" and let us know what you think in the comments!

Smallville Rant: Doomsday Cast

We here at CW Source central just received a press release from The CW itself, reporting that Smallville has found its Doomsday – Davis Bloome, who played Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo on Battlestar Galactica. Also joining the cast is Cassidy Freeman (“Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee”), who will play Tess Mercer. From The CW press release: "Handpicked by Lex Luthor to succeed him before he vanished, Tess arrives in Smallville as acting CEO of LuthorCorp. Beneath her mysterious allure lies a cunning ruthlessness to match her mentor’s."

We love that this new lass has a similar name to the glorious Miss Tessmacher of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies -- who could forget that slinky villainess who was happy to sink California, but she balked at dooming Hoboken because her mother lived there? That's the way to incorporate a previous Superman villain!

But back to Doomsday. Here’s where the geekier denizens of CW Source Central run into a problem. There’s nothing wrong with Davis Bloome – he’s seriously hot, he’s got a great sci-fi pedigree, and did we mention he was seriously hot? Yowza! But… why Doomsday? Yeah, yeah, we get that Smallville runs in a different universe than the rest of the Superman canon. We understand that they can go in different directions than the comics and the movies. But why even bother using the name Doomsday when that Smallville character won’t have anything to do with the comic-book villain?

Here’s what we mean: In the comics, Doomsday was a mindless killing machine who just lived to destroy. He massacred planets, devastated entire galaxies, and killed Superman himself. Lex Luthor described him as an “intergalactic soccer hooligan,” for cryin’ out loud. So why take the name form this very specific, very iconic character and give it to some good-looking bartender? Why not chose a name from any of the gazillion other villains Superman has faced, or – and here’s a concept – come up with something completely original to the show?

We'll take a moment to note that nowhere in the press release do they dub Bloome "Doomsday" -- instead, they note that Bloome must contend with "burgeoning darkness inside of him that just might be a harbinger of doom." But the producers have previously trumpeted the rise of Doomsday in every other release, so what else are we supposed to think?

What do you think? Are we taking things too seriously, or do you agree that using the name Doomsday is a mistake? Vote in our poll and talk about it in the comments!

The 90210 Cast on Love Twists!

Jason C. caught up with the cast of 90210 recently, and he did his best to get some premiere scoop out of them! The cast was tight-lipped at first... but they soon revealed a few tantalizing tidbits. They shared some juicy scoop about the first few minutes of the premiere, teased a few possible love interests, and laughed about the funny mixup when they first met Tristan.

CW Stars Up for Multiple Teen Choice Nominations

Eonline reports that Gossip Girl received a whopping 14 Teen Choice nominations, including Best Drama, Best Breakout Show, and Choice TV Actor/Actress.

It's true that GG is everywhere on the list of nominations. All three female leads (Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Taylor Momsen) are up for Best Breakout Female Star, and we were especially excited to see Ed Westwick's Chuck Bass nominated for Choice TV Villain along with Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum. But One Tree Hill also earned its fair share of nominations, including Choice TV Drama, Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush for Choice TV Actress and Chad Michael Murray for Choice TV Actor. Our complaint: where are James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Galeotti? They deserve some noms, too!

Other shows represented include America's Next Top Model (Cycle 10 winner Whitney is up for Choice TV Female Reality Star, Tyra is up for Choice TV Personality, and the show itself is in the running for Choice TV: Reality Beauty and Makeover), Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (for Reality Music Competition), and Smallville (Choice TV Show Action/Adventure, Choice TV Actor/Actress Action/Adventure for Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk). Even Beauty and The Geek made the list with a nomination for Choice TV: Reality Beauty & Makeover.

Notably absent from the list: Supernatural and Reaper. And what about Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens in America, Girlfriends, and The Game? We think these shows were seriously overlooked -- do you agree?

Let us know what you think of the nominations in the comments!

The CW Gets Into the Makeover Biz

The folks at Reality TV Magazine clued us in to a casting call for a new CW makeover show, and we're intrigued. The producers of Glam Me Up are looking for women between the ages of 18 and 30 who need -- and deserve! -- a makeover. You can nominate a friend or family member (or ask your own friends and family to nominate you!) by emailing recent pictures and information to makemeovercasting@gmail.com and Twinsworld1@aol.com.

Right now, we don't know much about the show, but we have to admit, we're a sucker for makeovers -- they're our favorite part of America's Next Top Model! -- and we like the idea that this is something that will be done for someone deserving -- although we don't know yet who determines exactly what "deserving" means. Just as long as it's more Extreme Makeover: Home Edition rather than Extreme Makeover: Nasty Plastic Surgery Edition, we'll be tuning in.

Would you want The CW to give you a makeover? Are you intrigued by the show? Tell us about it in the comments!
